Gatlinburg Summer Craft Fair Gatlinburg Convention Center Event

42nd Annual Summer Craftsmen’s Fair • July 14-23, 2017

Annual Summer Craft Show

In the early 1930’s, Gatlinburg, TN, became famous when visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park began bringing home quality mountain crafts as unique gifts to their friends and family. Not much has changed since then, thank goodness! People around the world still appreciate handcrafted work and unique ideas. If you are one of them, then you do not want to miss the arts, crafts, and musical entertainment at the 42nd Annual Summer Craftsmen’s Fair from July 14-23, 2017.

The Craftsmen’s Fair is recognized as one of the top 20 events in the southeastern U.S. by the
Southeast Tourism Society. Why? Because along with selling their blue-ribbon work, the over 200 artists also demonstrate their special talents and skills while you watch; it’s always fascinating to see “how it’s done!”

“Oh, I’ve seen a lot of craft fairs before,” you say, “why should I go to this one?” Well, beside the vast variety of handmade – not manufactured – items available, it’s important to know the fair promoters take great pride in the quality level presented so each exhibitor’s work has been juried for skill assessment and first-rate crafting. You will not only find many familiar mountain crafts such as candles, quilts, jewelry, and baskets, but also exceptional wares like fully functional folk pottery reminiscent of the 1800’s, stained glass windows, doors, kaleidoscopes, and angels, and oil paintings of wildlife and sweeping landscapes. “But, wait! There’s more!” as they say. Also available will be sculptured leather, hand-tooled leather belts, hand painted feathers and leaves, chainsaw carvings, and silversmiths. Truly a comprehensive and wide range of traditional crafts and art.

Included in the admission cost is first rate country and bluegrass entertainment performances.  The Craftsmen’s Fair will be open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Admission price is $7; children 12 & under are free.

Save the Date! Fall Craftsmen’s Fair is October 5-22, 2017
