September 2013 Special Events and Festivals in the Smokies
Spending time in the Great Smoky Mountains during the month of September offers less crowds, excellent lodging specials and beautiful end of summer and beginning of autumn weather. 1-2: Labor Day Weekend Sales
Tanger Outlets in Sevierville and Pigeon River Crossings in Pigeon Forge will be holding their annual holiday sidewalks sales. 2: Labor Day!
Celebrate your contributions as a hard-working citizen with an end of summer bash. Cook out at your cabin and have a relaxing summer meal on the deck or pack a picnic and enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
4-9: Sevier County Fair
Come enjoy a traditional county fair in Sevierville Tennessee until 10 p.m. each night. Along with carnival rides and midway games, delicious funnel cakes and other fair foods are new events including nightly entertainment, storytelling and a corn hole tournament. See the fair schedule here.
6-7: Shades of the Past Pigeon Forge Car Show
The 31st annual Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup is headquartered at Dolly’s Splash Country in Pigeon Forge. There will be ample parking on Veteran’s Blvd. for spectators. Come ‘cruise’ the show to see some of the hottest cars ever made from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.
12-15: Grand Fall Rod Run
Annual fall Pigeon Forge Rod Run is held at traffic light #6 in the parking lots of the former Grand Hotel. Enjoy four full days of customs, hot rods and classics along with a huge swap meet.
13: Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival
The businesses of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg decorate their doors and front stoops with signs of fall as we look forward to celebrating the harvest season with special events through October.
22: First day of Autumn!
28: 10th Annual Old Mill Heritage Day
You’ll want to gather at the Old Mill near Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge to watch quilt demonstrations and basket making, learn to make lye soap and apple butter, shop a farmer’s market and let the kids have fun in the petting zoo or riding the kids train. You may also take a free tour of the Old Mill and enjoy live entertainment throughout the day.
28-29: Fall Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament
If you love fishing or even watching those who do, come out to the annual fishing tournament sponsored by Rocky Top Outfitters in Pigeon Forge. Streams will be stocked with thousands of trout prior to the tournament and prizes awarded for largest and smallest trout, and overall catch. Headquartered at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge.
