Leatherwork Shops and Galleries on the Crafts Trail
Ridgecrest Cabin Rentals is fortunate to have a few log cabins right smack dab in the Smoky Mountain crafts community and to be surrounded by such talent and skill as seen in several leather shops on the crafts trail. You’ll find Native American inspired clothing, hats, belts and a variety of leather goods handmade right in several Gatlinburg leather shops and even see craftsmen demonstrating leatherworking. Here are six shops and galleries located with a few miles of our private and secluded cabin called Little Wing:
A member of the Academy of Western Artists and Working Ranch Cowboy Association, The Country Cobbler knows leather! Creating both artistic and functional leatherworks, choose from classic chaps, belts, handbags of fine, top grain cowhide, Bible covers, gun holsters, and more. All leathers used are hand selected to ensure the highest quality products obtainable and leather dyes are created in studio. Stop in to see Doug and Becky at work at 170 Glades Rd. Suite # 15. If you can’t visit in person, the Country Cobbler offers free shipping within the continental US for all online orders.
Marsha A. Fountain specializes in handmade, Native American inspired clothing made from deer and elk hides, original Poppen moccasins, flutes, drums and beaded jewelry. Located at 517 Glades Road.
“The Real McCoy” Leather
Gary McCoy invites you to his shop for quality, handcrafted leather goods. Need a new belt? Choose regular and ranger of solid leather and brass. Gary’s shop is located at 513 Glades Road.
Smokies’ Edge Leatherworks
Located at 540 Buckhorn Road, for the past 29 years, Smokies’ Edge has craftsmen demonstrating leatherworking and offers handmade belts, bags & billfolds in a variety of fine leathers. We think you’ll love knowing that all products are made in house!
Smoky Mountain Leather
Be sure to visit Teresa Ownby at Buie’s Landing #4 on East Parkway for unique hand-tooled leather items. Products include belts, holsters, sheaths, purses and guitar straps. The nice thing you’ll find at Smoky Mountain Leather is customization while you wait and Teresa also welcome custom orders.
The Leather Works
Allen and Diane Shirley have owned and operated The Leather Works for over 30 years and look forward to having you visit their shop. You’ll find a great selection of leather belts, guitar straps, wristbands, purses, wallets and hats. The store also offers a variety of knives, decorative buckles and Minnetonka shoes. Located at traffic light #3A, East Parkway, directly across from Glades Road.
